New Profiles Report: Mobile Crisis Teams, 2024

Mobile Crisis Teams (MCTs) are a critical component of the behavioral health crisis care continuum as they are designed to enable the crisis team to meet face-to-face with an individual experiencing a behavioral health crisis. MCTs have demonstrated effectiveness in helping address crises and reduce use of emergency rooms, psychiatric hospitalizations, and adverse criminal justice system interactions.

How does my state compare on mental health spending and services?

NRI's State Profiles provide side-by-side data on per-capita expenditures, funding sources, crisis bed availability, and service capacity across all 50 states — updated annually. Use it to benchmark your agency and inform budget requests.

We need help measuring and improving the quality of our behavioral health programs.

NRI's Performance Measurement services help agencies design, track, and act on quality metrics — including the BHPMS system used by states nationwide. We offer survey development, data analysis, and ongoing customized reporting tailored to your agency's goals.

I'm working on criminal justice or Olmstead compliance issues and need data-backed research.

NRI's Criminal Justice & Mental Health Research Center examines the intersection of mental illness and the justice system. We also support Olmstead compliance efforts with legal analysis, data, and policy planning — helping agencies navigate their obligations to community-based care.

What does NRI offer on First Episode Psychosis and early intervention?

NRI has produced 36+ reports and projects focused on First Episode Psychosis, covering implementation of Coordinated Specialty Care, state policy landscapes, and outcome measurement. It's one of our most active research areas.

Where can I find NRI's published reports, datasets, and latest findings?

The NRI Reports library houses our full catalog of publications — from state expenditure analyses to crisis bed registries to suicide prevention policy reviews. Our Data section includes downloadable datasets, and new reports are added regularly via our Spotlight.

Finding what you need just got easier. In addition to the Reports library and Data section, all of our public reports and findings are now surfaced directly in search results — so you can search across our full catalog from anywhere on the site.
