Like many states, Colorado is experiencing diminished capacity for civil inpatients and a rise in forensic admissions to the state hospitals. NRI studied the trends, causes, and suggested possible interventions to reduce inpatient admissions and provide positive outcomes for mental health consumers with criminal justice involvement.
